How to fix pool paver mortar disintegrating?

Hi, I bought a older small house that has pavers around the pool edging.Every time it rains in-between is slowly breaking down and the pool filter is blocking up with the sand that gets washed into the pool. Advice what to use to fill back in and seal it up again.Attached picture of what needs filling. The quickest and easiest method preferably.

It looks like they original used a mortar mix, which over many years and with many weather cycles, will eventually break apart and erode, which is what you are experiencing. The simplest solution is to remove the degraded mortar and repoint the pavers with some fresh mortar.

So, start by removing the old mortar. This can be done using a cold chisel and hammer to break out the loose material, or a joint raker to clean out the gaps. Once removed, make sure to brush or blow out all dust and debris so you have a clean joint to work with.

Then, using a standard mortar mix, press the mortar into the joints using a https://www.bunnings.com.au/hyde-13mm-tuck-pointing-trowel_p0960298 . Work it firmly into the joints so there are no voids, and smooth it off so it sits neatly between the pavers. It is a good idea to wipe away any excess from the surface before it sets to keep the pavers clean.

Once the mortar has dried and cured, you can apply a paving sealer over the area. This helps reduce water penetration and will slow down future erosion of the joints, which is particularly helpful around a pool.
