How to fix high moisture in an apartment bathroom?

Hi - thanks for your help with this. I got a pre-purchase builder's report for a first floor apartment in Melbourne city. I think the apartment is around 13 years old. There are moisture issues in the bathroom and high moisture reading around the toilet. Can you please advise the costs estimates (best and worst case scenarios) for these areas (bathroom and toilet) and also if I should consult a leak specialist? Many, many thanks!

I'm sorry but I am unfamiliar with the current pricing structure of the trades in Melbourne. But the good news is that the remedies suggested were very specific. This will allow you to ask for very specific jobs and quotes from the tradesperson.

What are some of the things you'll need to get quoted?

• Regrout your flooring along with a plumbing quote. This is technically a part of your toilet flooring as well. I suggest engaging the services of a plumber to assess the damage of your toilet pan leak and get a quote for the repair. If the tiles are in a bad condition (loose, cracked or water is coming out of the gaps) This will need to be addressed, and you'll need a quote from the tiler about removing the tiles and installing new ones.
• Have your shower properly re-sealed by a tradesperson. Having the shower stall properly re-sealed professionally means that you'll be covered by the tradesperson's warranty. A plumber may do this for you as they are looking at your toilet already.
• Since you are having part of your floor re-done, it would be a good idea to have your shower floor grout refreshed and sealed at the same time.

I propose posting the jobs on Hipages or Airtasker to see to see what kind of quotes you'll get.
