hello! I would love some help on how to remove these stains from my bathroom marble sink that I believe is porous? I had 2 items on separate ocassians sitting on the sink and it ended up staining. The purple stain is from toilet paper that was on the sink and then something else must’ve been put on it, the colour seems to have transferred into the stone. Any advice/help would be appreciated !!

These stains are a common issue with marble because it’s a naturally porous material. When something damp, like toilet paper or another item containing dye, sits on the surface, the moisture can carry pigment down into the tiny pores of the stone. This means the stain isn’t just sitting on top, it has likely penetrated below the surface. The soft, blurry edges of the marks suggest the discolouration has spread within the stone itself, which is why standard cleaning products won’t remove it.
At this stage, the stain is likely too deep to be lifted with normal household methods, and using stronger cleaners could risk damaging or etching the marble further. You may need to contact a professional stone benchtop restoration specialist, as they have specialised techniques such as poulticing (which uses a powder to draw out the stain) or refinishing that may help reduce or remove the staining.
