3m x 1.5m Kwila deck

The project:

Constructed a 3m x 1.5 M Kiwla deck on side of the house. Will then join this deck to the deck at the back of the house with a Kiwla boardwalk (upcoming project). We will be able to walk from the back garden to the side garden without muddy shoes.

- Materials:

Deck Beams: 140x45

Preoiled Kwila: 140 x 90

Joist hangers

Coach bolts.

- Tools:

Bosch Blue Drill

Bosch Blue Driver

Makita Compound sliding Mitre saw

Bosch Blue Table Saw.

- Step 1:

Mark out area 3m x1.5 with string and pegs

Ensure area is square.

Mark and dig holes for poles.

Cut poles with L cutting to accomodate decking beam(NZ Building code)

Install Beams onto poles using fixing bolts

Secure cross beams using joist hangers.

Secure Kwila decking onto deck beams using coach bolts.

Allow pre-oiled kwila to weather and then apply additional oil if necessary.

Thanks for the kind feedback. The boardwalk joining this deck to the deck in the back garden is the next project - yes will post a picture on this project and the next one oncve i complete the boardwalk - i have cut all the timber for the boardwalk and it is the next project in the next few weeks.
