Heavy aluminium sliding door onto balcony not closing fully. Door is sliding ok.
I have cleaned the bottom rails. Photos attached Thanks
Hi @LSJ ,
If the door is sliding freely but just not closing fully, it’s usually one of two things, either something is still lodged in the track, or the door itself is catching or sitting slightly out of alignment.
When you mention cleaning the bottom rail, did you remove the door from the track as well? Sometimes debris can get stuck underneath the door or around the rollers where it’s not accessible from above, which can stop it closing properly.
It may be worth lifting the door out to:
If everything looks clean and the rollers are in good condition, the next step would be to adjust the height of the door. There are usually adjustment screws at either end of the frame that allow you to raise or lower it slightly. If it’s just catching near the end of the frame, a small height adjustment can often give you the clearance needed.
Just be careful when removing the door, they can be quite heavy and the glass panels can shatter if knocked. Make sure to wear appropriate PPE such as safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves, long sleeves, long pants and enclosed footwear.
Let us know how you go or if you’re able to share a photo of the rollers, we can help further.

Hi Mitchell , Thanks for your advice . Door is fixed- a combination of a thorough clean, and the outward door was catching on an item on the balcony🙄
