Hi there, I want to install a non-electric bidet attachment, but it requires me to remove the quick-release pins so the bidet can fit underneath it. However it doesn't seem like the circular metal plate or the pins can be removed. They almost seem like they're glued/fix-in or something. Is someone able to tell me if these can be removed and if so, how?
Hi @carpedion,
It depends on the specific design of the pins, but oftentimes, underneath that cover plate at the base of the pins, there will be a screw holding them in place.
Start by trying to rotate the cover plates off by hand. If you have no luck, try using a flathead screwdriver to lever them up. They should just be pressed in place over an O-ring, so there shouldn't be a heap of resistance.
Once the cover plates are up, there should be a screw or something similar that holds them in place.
Give this a try and let us know what you find. If you have trouble with the cover plates, or do not find a screw, please let us know so we can assist further.

Unfortunately no luck on this end. The cover plates are fixed and won't rotate by hand. I've also tried a flathead screwdriver but can't get any purchase under the plates to lever them up.
There's also zero access from underneath the toilet to loosen the pins from below.
Any other suggestions on what to try from here?
The strange thing is that I have found what look like the exact pins online, and they seem to be adjustable from the bottom. However, on this toilet, there is absolutely no access from within the bowl or under the rim, or around the back of the toilet, so aside from removing them from the top, so I have no idea how that could work!

I got the caps off! More WD40 and a flathead screwdriver did the trick!!
I trust you've found the screw/bolt head under the chrome cap that expands the plastic section inside the pan. Let us know if you have any further difficulties.
Many thanks for the update.

Oh jeez sorry one more question. I want to remove this screw entirely but the metal is blocking me from removing it entirely. Any ideas?
Is that as far as the screw will back out @carpedion? You could presume, since it went in there, that you should be able to get it out again. Try spinning the plastic fitting around toward the camera in the photo so the bolt can tip over more towards the pan. That might improve the angle at which you are trying to pull the internal fitting out.
Done, I will not be quitting my day job. Managed to unscrew them enough so that they'd fit through the hole in the porcelain, but also so they wouldn't unscrew so much that they'd drop back into the toilet. Thanks for your tips along the way!
