we removed a filter tap from near our kitchen sink. It now has a hole approximately 15mm in circumference. Is there a way to either cap it or fill the hole?

The simplest solution would be to use a cover plate such as this https://www.bunnings.com.au/kinetic-deluxe-chrome-sink-cover-plate_p0650614 . You would simply remove the bottom piece from the thread, slip the thread through the hole, then reattach the bottom piece, tightening it up from below the benchtop.

That was my original plan, but I feel more adventerous now after painting all my rubbish peeling vinyl wray kitchen
Hoping to fill hole and refinish with a laminate paint?
If you were looking to fill it, you would need to start by installing some backing for the hole. This could be done by simply screwing or gluing a small piece of timber to the underside of the benchtop.
Once the backing is in place, you could fill it with builder's bog, allow it to dry, give it a sand to smooth it out, then paint over it with your laminate paint.

Just checking in to see how you ended up going with the benchtop repair. Did the builder’s bog and laminate paint approach work out for you?

thank you Mitchel for the advice, it was exactly what I needed. The builders bog worked a treat. I haven’t painted bench top as it is only a very small hole & not sure it I want to paint whole bench at this stage. Be good to be able to get a small sample pot to just touch up hole.
The rest of the cabinets are a big improvement to kitchen thanks to advice from BunningsWorkshop. Just need to paint walls and sand floors!! One of too many projects on the go 🤣
Unfortunately, specialty paints, such as the benchtop paint, don't come in sample sizes. If you just wanted to touch up the little patch, you could just use a sample pot, which is usually very basic wall paint, but it wouldn't last quite as well long term. It could be a short-term solution while you decide on the next steps, if there is any.
Outside of this, your kitchen looks like it is coming along nicely. The cabinets really modernise and brighten the space.
