How to fix broken pool gate hinge?

hi, my aluminium pool gate (installed as a front gate just last year!!) has broken at the hinges. The holes in the gate seem to have gotten bigger over time and the screws no longer hold the hinge to the gate.

Is there a way to fix it without replacing the whole gate?

The hinge does not seem to support a thicker screw/ bolt

It looks like the screw holes in the aluminium have worn out, which is fairly common over time. There are likely two practical options to fix this without replacing the whole gate:

1. Replace the screws with a nut and bolt setup
You can switch to a bolt and nut instead of screws. The key is to use a bolt with a shaft thin enough to pass through the hinge holes, then secure it on the other side with a washer and nut. This will give a much stronger hold than screws in worn aluminium.

2. Reposition the hinge
Alternatively, you can move the hinge slightly up or down on the gate so that your fixings go into fresh, solid material. This can often restore a secure fit if the rest of the gate is still in good condition.

Just a heads-up: pool gate hardware can sometimes be considered a foothold, and there may be regulations around hinge placement and height for safety compliance. Because of this, it’s a good idea to check requirements or enlist the help of a pool fencing specialist to ensure everything remains compliant and safe.
