How to fix a leak under laundry sink and secure washing machine hose?

Hello!

Recently bought a house and now trying to learn how to fix and improve things in the house and needing quite a fair bit of guidance along the way so thank you in advance!!

I found a leak under the sink at Point 1 and Point 2 as pictured. I tried tightening them but still noticed a leak, would some kind of seal help or would it be better to try replace the whole pipe connection thing?

In addition, I am also struggling with finding out how to connect the washing machine hose to the pipes properly. It is not very long so at the moment the hose is just sitting in the top of the pipe but doesn’t feel very secure.

Please note that plumbing work needs to be completed by a licensed professional for safety and compliance.

With that in mind, the leaks you’re seeing at Point 1 and Point 2 will need to be properly assessed and repaired by a licensed plumber. Simply adding sealant is usually not a reliable fix for these types of joints, and in many cases, the affected section of pipe or fitting will need to be replaced to properly resolve the leak.

Regarding your washing machine hose, a common way to improve this is by fixing the hose in place near the top bend using a pipe saddle attached to the cabinetry, which helps prevent movement. It is still a good idea to check with a plumber to make sure the setup is compliant and correctly installed for your specific plumbing configuration.
