How to stop weeds underneath cubby house?

Hi,

I have recently started building a cubby house for my kids. I put the cubby on posts to allow for circulation and prevent moisture getting in the cubby. So on the weekend I concreted the posts and then attached the bottom frame that the flooring will go on. But then I thought about weeds. Will weeds grow underneath?

Prior to digging the post holes I weeded the area and dug up any grass and spread the soil to level out the area as best I could. But now I’m thinking will weeds grow underneath and around?

how do I prevent this?

Are there any solutions I can work with given the frame is already connected to posts that are concreted in. I’m a beginner so bare with me.

It does not have to be overly thick; I propose a height of 30mm, it should be sufficient to hold the fabric down.

@EricL thank you. Do you have a recommendation of how thick the layer of gravel should be?

You may get some along the edges but remember the shade will stop a large quantity of weeds growing underneath :) I have only had edge weeds growing next to my deck in the past decade and I prepped the area pretty much the same way you have described.
