Hi Looking at covering the existing stramit ceiling, what will be the most bang for buck approach for this? the Curtains will also be replaced with s fold sheer curtains along with possible timber look flooring if it is worthwhile

For a modern update and best bang for buck, you’re on the right track with those ideas.
For the ceiling, the most cost-effective approach is to sheet straight over the existing stramit with plasterboard (provided there are sufficient mounting timbers behind the boards). This gives you a clean, modern finish without the cost of full removal. You can then set, sand and paint it in a flat white to really brighten the space. Alternatively, you could install timber joists across the bottom of the exposed beam and lower the ceiling. Check out How to install plasterboard.
Updating the lighting will also make a big difference. Swapping the current fittings for simple LED oyster lights or downlights will give a much cleaner, more contemporary look. Remember any electrical work needs to be carried out by a licensed electrician.
Replacing the carpet with hybrid vinyl plank flooring in a timber look is definitely worthwhile. It’s durable, low maintenance and will instantly modernise the room while working nicely with white walls and natural light. Here's a helpful guide: How to lay vinyl plank flooring.
Finishing it off with S-fold white sheer curtains will soften the space and keep it feeling light and open, especially with those large windows.
Overall, these changes will give you a much more modern, cohesive look without going overboard on cost.
