The project:
Upgraded my bin area (approx 3m x 2m) from lawn to pavers and pebbles as it was hard to move the bins on and off the grass when they were full.

- Step 1:
Marked the area that I needed to work on. Removed the grass from that area using the lawn mower at zero setting. Then did dig a bit using the shovel to clear up the area (should have dig couple of cms more. That would have helped me to level the pavers and bricks nicely with the concrete path. I definitely need to work on my levelling skills !)
- Step 2:
I then laid the weedmat down and secured them with the weedmat pins.
With the help of my little helper (my 6 yr old daughter who likes doing DIY jobs with me), I put down 6 bags of river sand, spread it out evenly using a metal rake. Then used the tamper to compact it down (and also to level it but I think I could have done better there).
- Step 3:
After that I tied the stringline in order to get a straight line to lay down the paver bricks on the edge. I used cement mix and dipped the bricks in them before laying them down. Hopefully that will secure them in place for a longer time. Similarly, I put a layer of cement at the bottom of the porcelain pavers before laying them done, to set them in place. Not sure if I should have used concrete instead of just cement. I used couple of offcuts lying around my garage to use them as spacers in between the pavers to place them at equal distances. Used the rubber mallet to tap the pavers down and level them up, constantly checking using the spirit level.
- Step 4:
Finally, once all the pavers were in place I put the pebbles in the gaps and secured them using the Landscape Lock glue (had to do 2 rounds of it and might need one more as it rained the same day I sprayed it the first time !!! )
Here is the end result. I'm happy with what I acheived but as I mentioned, I could have done few things better (I needed to do this DIY to take my mind off my recovery from knee surgery and no job 😁). This porject costed me just under $400.
