Hi,
We recently installed a french door and now need to paint them white. But I do not know how to do it☺️. could you please teach me what supplies I need to buy and what steps I take.
Thanks a lot.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @rizwangul. It's wonderful to have you join us and many thanks for your question on painting doors.
Those doors will look fantastic painted white. Before painting, give the timber a light sand, especially on any rough sections or sharp edges, so the surface is smooth and ready for paint. Once sanded, wipe away all dust with a clean cloth. Next, carefully tape up all the glass panels on both sides of the doors using https://www.bunnings.com.au/scotchblue-24mm-x-54-8m-original-multi-surface-painter-s-masking-tape_p1669657 to stop paint getting onto the glass and to help achieve neat edges.
After preparation, apply a full coat of https://www.bunnings.com.au/dulux-1l-1step-prep-primer-sealer-undercoat_p1370232 to the entire door, including all the mouldings and edges. A small angled brush works best for the narrow timber sections, while a small roller will help give the flat areas a smooth finish. Once the primer is fully dry, lightly sand again if needed and wipe away any dust. Then apply two coats of https://www.bunnings.com.au/dulux-4l-aquanamel-semi-gloss-white-enamel-paint-4l_p1400051 for full coverage and durability, allowing proper drying time between coats. Using a semi-gloss or satin trim paint will give the doors a beautiful professional finish and make them easier to clean in the future.
