I want to put up some Shade Cloth to cover plants like Elephant Ears, Monsteras, Philodendrons, Bromeliads, Ferns, Begonias & Hydrangeas.
What % Shade Cloth would be best for these plants?

Because your plant collection includes a beautiful mix of broad-leaved tropicals, delicate ferns, and partial-shade flowering plants, the ideal shade cloth will vary slightly depending on each plant’s needs. A 50% shade cloth is a wonderful choice for plants like Monsteras, Philodendrons, Elephant Ears, and Bromeliads. It offers just the right amount of protection from harsh UV rays and intense afternoon sun while still allowing plenty of filtered light to encourage healthy, vibrant growth and lush foliage.
For more sensitive plants such as Ferns, Begonias, and Hydrangeas, a slightly denser shade cloth in the 50% to 70% range works best. These plants thrive in cooler, gentler conditions and can struggle with strong heat or direct sunlight. Hydrangeas and begonias especially appreciate soft morning sun followed by shaded protection in the afternoon, helping prevent drooping, leaf scorch, and sunburn while keeping them looking fresh and thriving.
Please note that the anchor points for the shade cloth must be secure. Hooking them onto weak unsupported sections of your fence or gutter is not advised as a strong gust will damage these anchor points. If you are placing the shade cloth in a large area and intending on leaving it there on a long-term basis, I suggest engaging the services of a professional to properly setup anchoring posts for your shade sail.
