I have a very old Caroma Monarch toilet from the 1980s the seat cover top flap has split.
The toilet has horizontal fixing points 165mm centers All I can find are top fitting fixings. I need to match a seat preferably in grey. Are you able to help.
Hi @norms,
From a quick search online, it has become clear that the original seats for your Caroma Monarch toilet are no longer available and from a quick look through our range of toilet seats, there isn't an obvious match.
The shape and fixing method are quite unique, as I am sure you would have realised, so it could be a bit challenging to match something up with it.
In order to give us the best chance of finding something to fit, could I also ask for the rough outer dimensions of the bowl?
With these dimensions, we could have a good look at the options and see if anything will work, although I will say it might be challenging with the front fixing holes, as I can't say I have seen toilet seats with that style of mounting before.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
Jacob
Thanks Jacob included is a photo with some dimensions.
There are certainly options that will fit size wise, but I can't find anything that seems like it would work with those forward-facing fixing holes.
I've left an enquiry with Caroma to see if they can provide a solution. I will get back to you as soon as they have gotten in touch.
thank you
I've just heard back from Caroma and unfortunately due to the age of the toilet and the irregular mounting method, they no longer produce a toilet seat that is compatible with your toilet.
I've also had a really good look through our toilet seats and have been unable to find anything with a hinge that work with the front-facing attachment points.
Unfortunately, I think the only solution at this point is replacing the toilet with a new one. You might like to check out our range of toilet suites and consider our https://www.bunnings.com.au/services/in-home/toilet-installation service as a potential solution.
Please let me know if there is anything else we can do to assist.
thanks Jacob for trying, I will have to think about this one.
continuing on from the original post, there absolutely no product that is available to replace the broken part.
The problem is the cracked toilet lid, pictures attached.
Could you either advise how I can refinish this and color the lid to primal Classic Grey or do you know any plastics company that could do such a small job.
I am pursuing this avenue because the bathroom is all color matched and to redo the whole lot is hugely expensive and disruptive.
Hello @norms
It appears that you have already applied adhesive to the toilet lid. The next stage that I would suggest is to sand the entire seat and prime it with https://www.bunnings.com.au/dulux-1l-precision-white-maximum-strength-adhesion-primer_p1400848 and then topcoat it with https://www.bunnings.com.au/dulux-1l-white-aquanamel-high-gloss-enamel-paint_p1400043 . Please note that this is a cosmetic repair and will only serve to hide the crack in the seat. My only other suggestion is to perhaps bring your seat to a 3D replication shop where they can possibly reprint your seat.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
