How to raise height of subfloor before laying hybrid flooring?

Hi there,

I'm just reaching out for some help. I m going to start laying my hybrid floor planks in the main bedroom but I want to raise the floor so the planks are even with the existing in living room(laid on top of existing tiles). I've measured the I will need to place 12mm of some sort if lining. What would you suggest, chipboard? Have you done this before? How do I secure it to the concrete slab, I don't have nail gun..

Hi @m-ivanov,

If you need to raise the floor by around 12mm, a good option would be using 12mm STRUCTApanel flooring grade particleboard:

This is commonly used as a flooring underlay and should provide a nice flat surface for your hybrid planks.

If your concrete slab is on-ground, you’ll also need to install an underlay/vapour barrier beneath it to prevent moisture issues. You can find the installation details and vapour barrier requirements on page 16 of the STRUCTApanel installation guide.

You can secure the sheets to the slab using masonry split anchors, so there is no need for a nail gun. Simply pre-drill and drive the anchor in with a hammer.
