How to fix toilet cistern water overflowing?

Question

I have followed your posting and adjusted the screw (?) for water level but it still over flows out the overflow valve.

I have felt the water entrance and it flows steadily and cleanly no blockages.

I have adjusted both north and south for the counter weight that is meant to stop the filling of the overflow.

How do i take the cap off to see if the weight inside is not jammed or stuck some how from rising or lowering to interfer with the filling mechanism???

Or could something else be the problem?

Please note that plumbing work needs to be completed by a licensed professional for safety and compliance.

I suggest doing a quick test, I propose turning off the cistern tap of your toilet suite and listening for a leak. Generally speaking, once you turn off the cistern tap no water should be entering the cistern. There should be no overflow occurring, but if you hear a leak or water is slowly going down, then odds are the seating washer, (the one that is under the giant plunger that lets the water out) is possibly worn out.

However, if by turning off the cistern tap and nothing happens and water stops flowing, then it is safe to conclude that the inlet valve is the defective part. In general, any changes that involve moving or reconfiguring pipework would be considered regulated plumbing work and would need to be carried out by a licensed plumber.

I therefore suggest engaging the services of a plumber to fix the leak in your cistern. I also suggest checking the stores Toilet Installation Service should you decide on a full replacement.
