Hello, any advice on what product to use to plug the gap under the tile. It looks like some mortar has fallen away. Thanks !
Hello @gmantron
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your roof tile.
It's possible that the mortar filling in that section fell off due to excessive rainwater flowing around that area. I would like to suggest having a good long look and see if there is any rainwater damage that may occurred while the patch fell off. If there is any damage, I suggest addressing that first before you patch gap in the roof tile.
To fill the gap, I propose using https://www.bunnings.com.au/dingo-fast-set-mortar-3kg_p0760518 in combination with a https://www.bunnings.com.au/trojan-150mm-pointing-trowel_p0551194 . My best advice is to make sure that the area is clean and free of debris before filling it with mortar. Please make sure to check your weather app to confirm that you have a few days of sunshine to work on this repair.
Please make sure to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask. If you are using a ladder, I suggest having a quick look at this safety guide - How to use ladders safely by @Adam_W.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Hi @gmantron
It may be worth changing out the material used for this job. Mortar is very inflexible and will crack due to the expansion and contraction of the different materials that make up your roof. Might I suggest using Mastic instead such as …
Dunlop (roof) Tile Pointing
This is designed for this job and is flexible to allow for movement.
