How to create a water feature using a plastic pot?

Hi All,

I would like to create a water feature on my retaining wall that will be to focal point as you look through the house from the front door and out the sliding door to see this on top of the retaining wall.

It is a plastic pot and was wondering if I need to seal it with something before adding water/plants. Also after recommendations on the type of filter/pump to use so a little water is coming up the top.
I saw some solar water features, but I think they are really out of my price range, so will have to go with powered and some how hide the cable to run up the patio post and across the roof to an outdoor waterproof box with power in it.

Any suggestion on this whole process would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about creating a water feature.

The vast majority of garden-grade plastic pots are made of inert polymers (such as polypropylene) that are stable and safe for plants. Therefore, there is no need to paint or line your plastic pot with a pond liner. The only thing to keep in mind is to seal any pot holes at the bottom that allow water to flow out. I suggest using https://www.bunnings.com.au/selleys-110g-knead-it-aqua-epoxy_p0352314 to plug up the holes. Please mix only what you need and mix well in your hand for full activation.
