G'day, using my single port garage as my office/man cave and I want to seal up the roller door (not used) from heat and dust but not permanently so can reverse when ever I sell up or go full reno. Don't want to create a wall frame as space is at a premium. Was thinking of foil boards but any help would be great. Going to use https://www.bunnings.com.au/premier-blue-5-2m-garage-door-floor-seal_p3962615 for the bottom to stop the water ingress but not sure of what to do for the sides of rail and the the top of the roller as it is an arched entry. Foam board cut to arch shape slid into gap maybe?
Hello @Osiris
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about sealing your roller door.
Your idea of using foam board at the top sounds promising, but as an alternative, I suggest looking at the https://www.bunnings.com.au/bastion-1200-x-600-x-30mm-xps-multi-use-foam-board_p0461085 . If you were thinking of the same thing, then we have the same idea running in our minds. The foam board can be cut and contoured to fit into the curved area and still be able to seal the top section of the roller door.
Foil board is also a possible option; however, I find that it is not that structurally strong and I'm not sure how to mount it without drilling into your roller door. I was going to suggest using more foam board and attach it to the roller door using neutral cure silicone. As to the sides, I recommend using https://www.bunnings.com.au/parfix-340g-expanding-foam-filler_p1232844 .
Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1, @Nailbag, @JoeAzza and @DIY4Knuckleheds for their recommendations.
Just a friendly reminder to our New Zealand members that the use of Foilboard is prohibited.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Cheers Eric, I was considering the Foam boards too. Expanding foam the sides of the rails and then something to jam inside the rail to stop dust and wind blowing the roller door.
Would it be possible for you to share a photo of the rail openings? Once our members see it, they'll be able to provide recommendations.
Good Morning @Osiris
I like the idea of the foil backed foam board at first until I saw @EricL's suggestion of that blue foam board. Much nicer I think. I would actually span the distance between the rails either side with maybe a 4cm overhang of the actial rails. Id prefer if the sheets are horizontal so they can be glued to the outside rails but if that dosnt work then maybe a Timber rail with a couple of masonry anchors into it across the floor so the sheets can be glued top and bottom.
The reason for the overhang is so you can install (glue) tall thin strips between the brick and the overlap foam to give a complete seal. I would use Duct tape to join the sheets together.

Hi @Osiris,
I like @Dave-1's plan. A bit of an overlap on the left and right of the garage with returns to the brick wall so everything is encapsulated well.
I was also thinking with the top of the garage door, you might be able to push some pipe insulation into the gap to act as a backing with some insulative properties and then cover with some expanding foam. As long as the gap is not too wide, then the pipe insulation should be able to friction fit until you spray your foam over it to cover.
hi @Osiris to add to @JacobZ , you use the pool noodles as pipe insulation, it’s a larger diameter
