How to fix wide roof gutter puddles before downpipes?

Hi there,

I would like to ask for some suggestions on improving water flow on our roof gutter as pictured here, as it is causing water to seep and drip into the garage. The immediate below pictures are before I've installed https://www.bunnings.com.au/fielders-2-4m-100mm-zinc-angle_p4790173 to cover the small gaps which is a suspect for the leak into the ceiling of the garage below.

These next few pictures will show the puddling issue which has caused as a result of the install above - I will take the pictures in the morning as it's currently raining and no lights.

How should I divert and / or provide enough gradients so that the water can flow into the downpipe?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Sealing those gaps with zinc angle is a good start, but it will not create a watertight seal alone. You'd have to seal the top and bottom edges with a roof and gutter silicone such as https://www.bunnings.com.au/selleys-310g-translucent-roof-and-gutter-silicone-sealant_p1234919 to prevent water seeping beneath or behind the angle. This is a good temporary measure to start with that will help prevent water from getting into the garage, but it will not fix the puddling.

If water is puddling in the gutter before it reaches the downpipe, that typically indicates there isn't enough fall towards the outlet, or the gutter may have sagged over time. Unfortunately, correcting the fall of an installed gutter usually requires adjusting the gutter brackets or reinstalling sections of the gutter to achieve the correct gradient.

Unfortunately, as roof drainage forms part of a home's stormwater system, modifying gutters and downpipe connections is considered regulated plumbing work. For that reason, I'd recommend having a licensed plumber or roofing specialist assess the installation and determine the best solution.
