How to fit oven and microwave in standard appliance cabinet?

Question

My brain can’t seem to work this out.

We are using standard appliance cabinets which are 600mm external, so 564 internal.

The specifications seem to say I need 600mm internal. Or am I looking at these wrong?

We are using Westinghouse oven model WVE6516DD And microwave model WMB2522DSC.

Apologies, I missed that part.

I imagine you already have, but I would question that part with the manufacturer to see if it is related to the exhaust path of the microwave. If it is, then modifications may need to be made to the cabinet to accommodate.

Thank you for that reply. My only concern is that the microwave states that ‘infill’ panel, which will be the sides of my cabinet must be 350mm max length. Obviously mine will be the full 600 depth of the cabinet unless i cut it.

Im not worried about the flush fit, as having it sit ‘proud’ on the cabinet itself will actually have it flush once i add my doors ontop of the cabinet.

I have reached out to the manufacture but am awaiting a response.

Hi @jazstone,

Both appliances seem to indicate the body of the appliance will fit in an opening that is 568mm wide, but the front fascia will not.

The key thing to look at is the infill panels. If you imagine they are not infill panels, and simply are the side wall of the cabinet, it makes a bit more sense.

Based on the information you've provided, you would be able to use the standard cabinets, which will have an internal measurement of 568mm, but they would need to be installed as a "proud fit", where the front fascia sits in front of the side walls of the cabinet. Assuming the cabinets are going to be next to other cabinets, you could more or less have a "flush fit" by simply sitting the appliance cabinet back by 20mm relative to the other cabinets, or by cutting 20mm off the front of the cabinets.

If you'd like further clarification, I suggest you reach out to the manufacturer of your appliances. They will be best placed to advise on the specifics of their products.
