How to fix loose paving tiles?

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently noticed that a couple of my floor tiles have started to wobble almost as if the grout or adhesive underneath has come loose. The tiles themselves aren’t cracked or damaged, so I’m hoping to fix the issue without having to remove them.

Has anyone dealt with something similar or can recommend a good solution? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Welcome to the Bunnings workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your loose paving tiles.

Looking at the picture you've posted, it appears that some of the grout has deteriorated. I suspect that water has gone through these gaps and it has weakened the tile adhesive. Another possible cause is ground movement, it's possible that the soil base underneath has shifted causing the tiles to pop off.

In order to repair the paving tiles, I suggest using a https://www.bunnings.com.au/trojan-6-in-1-multi-paint-scraper_p0093215 to gently lift the tile paver up and out of its location. I recommend using the same tool to scrape off as much of the old adhesive on both the tile and the floor. Give the area a good clean and remove all the debris in the area. I propose using https://www.bunnings.com.au/davco-20kg-ultraflex-ceramic-tile-adhesive_p6656384 to reattach the tile back to the floor. I suggest using the https://www.bunnings.com.au/dunlop-1-5kg-flexible-coloured-grout-slate-grey_p6829735 to replace the old grout.
