The project:
After 30 years on our property, it was time to give our verandah a new lease on life. We replaced the old decking and posts, choosing low-maintenance Ekodeck in Leatherwood with hidden clips for durability. Monument Grey posts and white pickets completed the fresh look. By extending the verandah in two areas, we created inviting outdoor spaces and a charming garden nook with repurposed wire to glow through. Dwarf citrus, raspberries and passionfruit make the space productive and beautiful. A giant chess board and Northcote Pottery water feature add the finishing touches to this relaxing outdoor retreat.
- Materials:
All materials, including the plants and pots, were sourced from Bunnings, with the exception of the Colorbond roofing and guttering , chess board , swans.

The pickets were painted with Taubmans Sunproof Paint in White, while all new timber, along with the existing guttering and posts, were painted in Monument Grey.

- Step 1:
Pulled up existing decking .
New holes were were dug and posts put in.
New decking was laid and then railings.
Roof was put up by professionals.
A big shout-out to DMH Constructions and Progressive Plumbing for the roofing and guttering work. (You shouldn’t be up ladders once you’re over 50, you know! 😂)
All timber including roof timber’s we pre painted, except pickets which we painted once they were up.
Next the fun part- Garden area and chess board finished off with sola lights . My dream picking fruit as I walk down the verandah.
