Replacement retaining wall and outdoor steps

The project:

I rebuilt an old retaining wall that had started to fail and replaced it with a clean, modern raised garden bed. The job involved removing the original wall, digging out the area, adding proper drainage, and rebuilding the structure to the new height and length using treated pine sleepers.

The new wall looks solid, neat, and really lifts the whole backyard. It’s a big improvement in both appearance and stability, and it gives the garden a much more finished and low‑maintenance look.

- Step 1:

Demolish and excavate area. Dig post holes, put timber posts and attach retaining wall sleepers

What a fantastic transformation. The new raised garden bed looks much neater and more modern, and it’s great to hear you also addressed the drainage while rebuilding it.

Using painted pine sleepers gives it a clean, solid finish, and the extra height really helps define the garden area. It’s a big improvement over the old wall and makes the backyard look much cleaner and more polished.
