Respraying old worn plastic pots

The project:

I was lucky enough to find some old worn plastic self watering pots in the free pot bin at my local bunnings.

I was just going to use them in the garden hidden amongst some other plants but then needed to re-pot some indoor plants and decided to give the old worn pots a refresh.

- Materials:

Old worn plastic pots

Dulux 300g Plastic Primer Spray Paint

Dulux 340g Equatorial Forest Satin Finish Spray Paint

- Tools:

Rocket Fine Sanding Sponge

Cardboard box or drop sheet.

- Step 1:

Give the pots a quick wash and let them dry

- Step 2:

Give the pots a quick sand/scuff.

Wash and dry again.

- Step 3:

Once dry give the pots a coat of Dulux 300g Plastic Primer Spray Paint.

- Step 4:

Once dry give a coat of Dulux 340g Equatorial Forest Satin Finish Spray Paint or desired spray paint. Let dry and repeat until desired coverage.

- Step 5:

Now you have a beautiful renewed pot.

Final step plant your desired plant. I planted Monstera.

What a great way to give old pots a second life! The finished result looks fantastic, and it's hard to believe they started out in the free pot bin.

I really like how simple and easy this project is to recreate. With just a quick clean, light sand, primer, and a few coats of spray paint, anyone can refresh tired plastic pots in an afternoon.
