Repurposed queen bed frame as daybed

The project:

I had this old bed frame which was missing some bolts. I used the head of the bed as the backrest and the foot of the bed I sawed in half to become the arms. I cut the slats to size and screwed it all together.

- Materials:

• an old bed frame
• Dog beds to use as cushions

- Tools:

• Ozito jigsaw
• Ozito drill
• Paintbrushes

- Step 1:

I started by using the Ozito jigsaw to cut the foot piece of the frame in half.

- Step 2:

I then measured the side rails and cut them to fit across the front and back of the frame to support the slats.

- Step 3:

using the already existing hardware, I attached the back side rail to the head of the bed.

- Step 4:

I affixed the arms with long screws.

- Step 5:

I then fixed the other side rail to the front. This created the foundation to place the slats.

- Step 6:

I positioned the slats and screwed them in.

- Step 7:

I chose a colour and painted the daybed.

- Step 8:

I added dog beds as the mattress and back rest and a few decorative pillows.
this daybed is unbelievably comfortable!

Hi @Allykj,

This is such a cool idea. I had never considered how easy it would be to transform an old timber bed frame into a seat/daybed. It makes sense though, all the right materials are there, you just have to cut them and reorient them to fit the new layout.

With the fresh coat of paint and the dog beds, which are a perfect fit might I say, this looks like a fantastic spot to put your feet up with a cuppa and read a book.
