Scrap wood storage cart

The project:

If your workshop is anything like mine, scrap timber has a habit of taking over which is why I decided to build a compact Scrap Wood Storage Cart that's designed specifically for small workshops, making it easy to keep offcuts organised without sacrificing valuable floor space.

Built on heavy-duty wheels, the cart can be rolled anywhere around the workshop when needed, and it also includes handy storage for my screw boxes plus a compartment for all those small offcuts that are too good to throw away but always seem to end up underfoot!

Best of all, the cart was designed to complement my French Cleat Wall System, making it the perfect addition to my ongoing workshop upgrade.

- Step 1:

Attach the feet supports to the base for the wheels:

- Step 2:

Attach the first side to the base:

- Step 3:

Attach the back of the unit to the base and the side:

- Step 4:

Screw the other end to the base and the back piece.

- Step 5:

Attach the middle support piece and start on the shelving.

- Step 6:

Finish off the shelving and attach the front of the wood storage box.

- Step 7:

Attach the piece to the front of the top shelf to stop stuff from sliding off the the shelf.

- Step 8:

Attach the piece to the back of the unit to stop material from sliding off the back.

- Step 9:

Attach hooks to the back of the unit which will be used to attach occy straps.

Another great project.

Scrap timber always seems to stack up, and it's hard to throw it out when there are still so many possibilities, so having a dedicated storage cart like this is a very practical solution.

I like that you've included separate storage for all the different sizes of timber you're likely to end up with and putting it all on castors makes it even more useful, as it can be moved wherever you're working.

Thanks for sharing another build with the community, I look forward to the video, assuming there is one to come.

Yes there is a video which will be coming out in a week or two…time permitting.
