How do I hang this medal stand ?

Hey guys. I really need your help. I got this as a birthday gift and it's 400mm wide. I want to hang it on plasterboard , but I read and learnt that standard stud spacing is 450mm or 600mm. How do I do it ? I have a standard 12v drill with drill bits and few other basic tools. I really want to install this in the living but as a novice I am worried to drill too many holes.

There are options for mounting to plasterboard, but if there is any considerable weight being hung from the stand, then they wouldn't be ideal. If you kept the weight low, then you could use a https://www.bunnings.com.au/ramset-nylon-wallmate-plasterboard-anchor-with-screws-10-pack_p0643325 on one side, with the other side being attached to the stud with a 50mm timber screw.

If you wanted to go the extra mile to ensure it is extremely solid, my suggestion would be to mount a piece of timber across two studs, then mount your metal stand to that timber. Something with a bit of thickness, like this https://www.bunnings.com.au/porta-140x30mm-1-2m-dar-rectangle-general-purpose-pine_p0117157 would be ideal. You could screw the timber to the studs using https://www.bunnings.com.au/zenith-10g-x-75mm-galvanised-countersunk-head-timber-screws-10-pack_p2410081 , then screw the stand to the timber, nice and central, using https://www.bunnings.com.au/zenith-8g-x-25mm-galvanised-button-head-stitching-timber-screws-28-pack_p2410093 .

If you went with this option, you could also paint, stain, oil or varnish the timber to your liking to further improve the look.
