How to install shelving for European laundry?

Hi,

I’ll be installing shelving in my European laundry and wondered if these panels would be suitable?

* I don’t have a dryer and mostly wash with cold water, and will leave the cupboard doors open whilst running the washing machine, so humidity won’t be much of an issue
* Shelves will be attached to wooden battens that are screwed into the studs
* Storage will mainly be for linen & blankets

A couple of question:

* what is the longest shelf run you’d recommend?
* Can these panels be sealed with polyurethane?
* As the floor will be waterproofed & tiled, I can’t screw horizontal panels into the floor. Can I use something like liquid nails to attach them to the floor tiles? (They will also be attached to the horizontal shelves)

I’ve attached a very rough layout (shelving marked in red) & a picture kind of similar to what I am planning to show more details.

Does anyone have  any other ideas or things I need to consider?

I suggest a maximum of 900mm wide as this is commonly seen in wall cabinets and wardrobe cabinets. But having the shelf shorter lessens the likelihood of the shelf bowing.

can be sealed with polyurethane. My best advice is to sand the surface very well before you seal the timber surface.

You can attach the panels to the floor tile using liquid nails. However, if the panel is attached to the vertical panels at the side there should be no need to anchor the panel to the floor. However, if I've misunderstood your description, please let me know.
