The project:
Nobody believe i could turn our dingy dark, outdated loo into a country style look. So I gave it a go. This is my first ever project. Love the country style and thought I would give it ago. It has taught me so much, how to use a mitre saw, caulking gun and painting. Mistakes were made, cuts wrongs, wrong paint, and that caulking gun. Sure it had a mind of it own. After much swearing, crying, and a few laughs am very proud of what I achieved. So on to the next
- Materials:
Scots blue paint tape
British paints. Gloss. Wall and trims. Bright with
British paints. Gloss wall and trimes light grey
Paint brush. DIY brand. Trime brush and 7 cm wall brush
Cheap bunnings roller and tray for walls
Liquid Nails
White polyfiller. Gape filler
Stone Looks stick on tiles
Wood per prime 12mm x 2.4 m
- Tools:
Paint brushes and roller. DIY products and bunnings roller kit
Makita mitre saw.
Tape measure
- Step 1:
Look at the project and wondering what i am getting myself into. Deciding what colour, where to place the beams around the wall and hope.
- Step 2:
Tape up areas and the walls for painting.
Start painting. Then change mind to another colour for the wall
Painted 2 coats as directed on the British tin
Leave to dry between coats
- Step 3:
Calculate the distance for the wood beams to go around the wall. Measure and marked. Also marked the height of wooden beams. 800mm from floor
First time using mitre saw. Scare the hell out of oneself cutting beams. Using a few choice words getting right height.
- Step 4:
After the scare of using first time miter saw.
Paint all wooden beams in British paints in gloss white.
2 coats and leave to dry between painting
- Step 5:
Using chalking gun place liquid nails inside and cut tip. State spreading liquid nails on back of wooden beams and place them in the maked spots on the wall. laughing to yourself for somehow getting it on yourself and sticking to the wall. Leave to dry.
- Step 6:
Place stone look a like stickers on top of wooden beam.
Then with liquid nails place top wooden beam on the top of the stick tiles on.
Leave to dry
- Step 7:
Paint walls in between the wooden beams. Leave to dry. Clean oneself up after painting oneself and area.
2 coats. Leave to dry in between.
- Step 8:
After leaving it to dry. Use caulking gun and place the polyfiller inside. Cut tip.
Try and cover up gaps around the wooden beam. After a few choices words, trying and smoothing out gap filler around beams and not getting it everywhere. Leave to dry.
Then clean up area and yourself of polyfiller.
- Step 9:
Now finished.
