How to repair double swing door pivot hinge?

Hello Bunnings Team,

I’m hoping you can help me with a repair issue on a double swing door at my home. One side of the door has come off what I believe is a pivot hinge (top/bottom pivot system rather than a standard side hinge).

I’ve attached photos showing the door and the hinge area for reference.

Could you please advise:

• What type of hinge or hardware this is likely to be?
• What parts I may need to repair or replace it?
• Whether this is something I can fix myself, or if you’d recommend a professional?

If you have any suitable replacement products available at Bunnings, I’d appreciate links or product suggestions.

Thank you very much for sharing your question about your pivot door. I'm sorry but I'm not familiar with the pivot door system of your door. In this particular instance, I suggest engaging the services of a professional door installer, specifically someone who has experience installing pivot doors.

Looking at the picture you've posted, it appears that the door has sunk down and has hit the floor flat. This tells me that it's possible that the bottom pivot has possibly gone through the door assembly and the top section was free floating as the pivot hinge dropped out of its confinement causing the hinge post to snap the side the top section of your door.

In order to carry out repairs the door will need to be replaced. Pivot doors are structurally stronger than standard doors. They must be strong enough to withstand deflection, warping and twisting forces that's constantly applied to it. I suggest visiting your local Bunnings store and speaking to the special orders team about Hume pivot doors, they'll be able to show you the models available. My best advice is to measure the size of the door and the door frame. Bring these measurements with you when you go to the store.
