The project:
Older school teachers desk and unique handmade side table found on Marketplace. First I sanded all aspects of the desk and wiped the surfaces over. Next I chose my paints; Rust-Oleum brand spray paint for ease of use and coverage. Outside for ventilation, I put down some ground coverage, then, wearing the appropriate PPE I sprayed the surfaces Blue with some Gold accentuations on the end table to match to the desk, covering both top surfaces with newspapers to protect them from overspray. The desk top surface and the end table top surface were then done in a wood stain in Walnut. Last I fixed the new gold handles to the drawers.

Brush for the stain application

- Step 1:
Sand back all surfaces to take away any loose splinters or debris, and wipe with a damp or microfiber cloth to remove sanding residue.
- Step 2:
Position project outside on a ground coverage for ventilation, and apply your PPE. Newspaper and tape areas where you dont want the overspray from spray paints, then with a smooth motion holding the can about 30cms away from the wood, spray the outer surfaces with an even coat. Leave to dry then apply a second coat.
- Step 3:
Stain top surfaces with 2x coats of the walnut stain, leaving to dry between.
- Step 4:
Fix handles with screwdriver to drawers.
