Front garden bed and retaining wall

The project:

This project consisted of a retaining wall garden bed and then filling it up with river stone.

- Materials:

Pine sleepers, H &C section retaining wall uprights, wood screws, quick set cement. Weed mat and week mat pegs

- Tools:

Circular saw, level, square, measuring tape drill, impact driver, auger bit, shovel, string line and lots of elbow grease 😂

- Step 1:

First of all I had to measure and mark out where I wanted my walls. Then dig out the holes for the H and C section uprights. I put a string line in, concreted thr posts in.

Waited a day then I started installing the sleepers. They needed to be measured and cut especially for the correct angle for my slope. Then i had dirt delivered (free from the neighbours) then I had to level out the dirt, install weed mat and pet it down and then collect the river rocks in a trailer and shovel them all in. I also had to .ake a little square surround for my water meter and tap.

Thank you for sharing the materials and steps of your project. That's a solid looking retaining wall and the river stone garden bed is unique. The surround for the meter is very practical as it allows you access to the meter and prevents the river stones from smothering it. Will you be placing any plants or accessories in the stone garden?
