The project:
For some reason the people before me had painted halfway up an exposed brick wall! Every time I walked past it annoyed me – so I turned it into a mural that brings me joy everyday and leads me upstairs.
- Materials:
- Tools:
- Step 1:
Got colour samples that complimented the brick and looked colourful without being overwhelming. (I looked online for colour palettes but ended up using the colours from a local Mexican restaurant for inspiration)
- Step 2:
Created a template of the curve that extended diagonally up and down. Taking the time to get this right was key so that all the curves sat neatly below the next one. I then used this template to outline it on the wall with pencil and frog tape for every second colour.
- Step 3:
Using the template to get an even space at the top and bottom I extended the lines of every second colour with frog tape.
- Step 4:
Painted those outlined stripes (because it was on a white background most only needed one coat but I did have to do 2 coats of the darker peppermint)
- Step 5:
Removed the tape and filled in the remaining stripes
