The project:

New home with very dated kitchen needed a complete demolish and rebuild.

- Materials:

Kaboodle kitchen (in home design advice which was invaluable)

Macaroon silk finish cabinets

New gunmetal grey appliances - dishwasher, induction cooktop and integrated range hood

Gunmetal grey sink & mixer

Tasmanian oak overlay floorboards

Bostik Ultraset SF Pro for timber flooring

Dunlop tile adhesive

Zellige matt white tiles

Dulux wash & wear whisper white

Recycled messmate for bench-tops

Plasterboard - aqua check

Gyprock joint compound

- Tools:

AEG 18V fusion FORCE tools

Ozito orbital sander

Dewalt circular saw

Flooring secret nailer (hire)

Ozito laser level

Craftright sash clamps

Trojan chisels

Heavy duty floor scraper

Ryobi multi-tool

Ozito biscuit joiner

- Step 1:

Demolish the old purple and yellow kitchen 😬

- Step 2:

Lay new Tasmanian oak overlay flooring before new kitchen arrives 😍

- Step 3:

Repair plaster walls damaged during demolition 🙄

- Step 4:

Reconstruction begins. Kaboodle cabinets arrive ready for rebuild 🛠️

- Step 5:

Recycled messmate joined for bench tops and island waterfall. Used biscuit joiner for the first time - so easy.

- Step 6:

Most of the hard work done 😜 Ready for trades to install plumbing and electrical.

- Step 7:

Tiling the backsplash with matt white zellige tiles that have variations in shade and texture. Aiming for an organic feel. Time to see how well we levelled everything (thanks laser level).

Grouting was a freestyle adventure due to the variations in each of the tile edges. The grout float remains unused 😏

- Step 8:

Kickboards installed and bench tops sealed with Osmo polyx oil. The kitchen of my dreams.

What a fantastic transformation! Taking on a full kitchen demolition and rebuild is a huge achievement, and the finished space looks bright, modern and beautifully finished. The handcrafted feel of the matt white zellige tiles adds so much warmth and character, making the kitchen feel unique and inviting. It's clear that a lot of planning, skill and attention to detail went into every stage, an impressive result you should be really proud of.
