Backyard deck for wheelchair access

The project:

project was done to be able to be used as a wheel chair access into the house

- Step 1:

clear area of rubbish and mark out roughly where I wanted everything to go

- Step 2:

install ledger 140x45 H3 treated pine around the boarder and add bearers 90x45 H3 treated pine spaced 900 apart with big foot pedestals underneath each bearer spaced 1000 apart

- Step 3:

install joists 70x45 H3 treated pine (for clearance under door) space 400 at centres apart and add protecktadeck 45mm joist protector

- Step 4:

apply 90x22 treated pine deck boards used 4.8m lengths 50 of and 3m lengths 25 of spacing them with the titan blue deck spacer 4mm

- Step 5:

apply sikkens dark oak deck stain to entire deck done 2 coats with 36 hours between coats

- Step 6:

added small concrete ramp for ease of access to back yard and clothes line

- Step 7:

next step of the project is a garden around the edge and final step selecting house coulour and adding paint to the house
