Storage room turned into bedroom with storage

The project:

we are renovating our entire 1975 double storey brick home, stage by stage our downstairs bathroom and laundry are nearly done and apart from the professional stuff we’ve done it all on our own outside of work hours!

- Materials:

plaster & adhesives etc

Taubmans undercoat prep

Dulux paint

70x45 studs

Hag11 door

Kkaboole cabinetry

- Tools:

ryobi everything

Nail gun

Circ saw

Sander

Hammer drill

Impact drill

Jigsaw

Reciprocating saw

Spray gun holmans

- Step 1:

remove everything old out from the room, ripped tiles and flooring up.

- Step 2:

measuring and re fitting walls and getting down lights run and installed

- Step 3:

hanging plaster and setting

Then adding the skirting

- Step 4:

priming all the walls and ceilings

- Step 5:

measuring for the cabinetry

Building a frame for it

- Step 6:

installing the cabinetry and then using the cabinet primer to prime as we wanted to colour drench the entire room

- Step 7:

painted, painted and painted

- Step 8:

carpet installed and door hung

- Step 9:

it sounds easy in 9 steps but took many trips to bunnings and many lessons learnt

What an impressive transformation. Turning an old storage room into a functional bedroom with integrated storage is a fantastic use of the space, and it's even more impressive knowing you've tackled it yourselves outside of work while renovating the rest of the house. The colour-drenched cabinetry gives the room a really polished, custom-built look.
