The project:
Custom Home Bar! After recently moving house we had an unused corner so I decided the best thing would be to add much needed storage and have a home Bar for all those bottles and glassware.
- Materials:
Kaboodle base cabinets,
900mm base cabinet.
800mm base cabinet.
600mm base cabinet.
150mm base cabinet.
Specrite merbau 900mm wide 2400mm long panel for the benchtop on the island cut down to size to fit.
Specrite 600mm x 2200mm panel cut to shape around the curved stairs and on the other end to fit the cabinets.
Kaboodle kickboards in white to match.
Alpine macaroon door panel x 7 to fit cabinets one was trimmed down as a filler panel for the void next to the stairs.
Japan black stain by Feast Watson for the base coat.
Cabot’s Cabothane Clear used for the topcoat’s over the Japan black stain.
Flexi storage floating shelves x 2 1200mm for the walls.
2 wall wine racks from Amazon.
black silicon.
And white no more gaps.
VJ panels painted in Dulux Surfmist.
- Step 1:
starting off with the base cabinets, getting those built, leveling and joining together and screwing into the wall studs. Adding doors to the cabinets.
adding and cutting to size the timber bench tops then staining for that dark beautiful Japan black finish while still seeing the beautiful wood grain of the merbau tops. Fixing the wall shelves and wine racks to the wall studs and finally silicone sealer around the timber tops and gap filling any gaps where the wall meets the kickboards.
a lot of work went into this but it was well worth it to have the extra storage and finally have a space for our wine/alcohol collection.
