The project:
DIY chicken coop, designed and built by myself in 4 days. Was an exciting and sometimes hard build but I got there in the end and the chickens love it!!! Couldn't be more proud of myself for my creation.
- Materials:
Aviary wire, 2.4 x 1.2 timber sheeting, framing timber, polycarbonate sheeting, many many screws, hinges, insulation sheeting, sand, nesting box.
- Tools:
Drill, circular saw, drop saw, jigsaw, hand saw, tape measure, hammer, square, ruler, a make shift ladder made of timber, sealant
- Step 1:
Drew up my design on paper.
- Step 2:
Made a 3D cardboard diagram of design because i really cant draw and it just looked like a 1 year old scribble 🤣
- Step 3:
Worked out what and how much materials I needed
- Step 4:
Ordered all the materials and waited on delivery
- Step 5:
Painted everything then started with the frame work
- Step 6:
Then created the base, then added frame to base
- Step 7:
Made the doors, covered areas in wire and polycarbonate sheets.
- Step 8:
Added the small details to the inside such as roosting bars complete with poop shelf, a closed in cage underneath complete with heat lamp for baby chickens, nesting boxes, self watering waterers, sand, insulation sheeting to protect wood under sand and pine shavings.
- Step 9:
Added the polycarbonate roofing, solar lighting on the inside and outside.
- Step 10:
Added in my chickens to their new sleeping quarters.
