Backyard facelift with deck and path

The project:

pulled out existing trees and hedging, added new garden bed in with new Bunnings plants. Decked over the top of existing concrete patio and added in a herringbone brick footpath to give a bit more character to the yard.

- Materials:

Merbau timber

H3 treated pine

Quick set concrete

Adjustable pedestals

Plants

Steel wire/anchors

Soil/mulch

- Tools:

mitre saw

Circular saw

Hammer drill

Shovel

Fencing pole

Reciprocating saw

- Step 1:

removed all the trees, stumps and roots

Laid fresh sandy loam then tif tuf Bermuda

Added edging to shape footpath and new garden bed

planted Climbing Jasmin to climb up fence and other assorted plants

- Step 2:

laid and compacted road base for footpath and under clothes line
cut and laid bricks for footpath

Laid artificial turf under clothes line

Built deck over existing concrete slab

You've created a great balance between hardscaping and greenery here. The deck makes the space much more functional, while the herringbone path adds a real point of interest. It'll be great to see how the new plants, especially the climbing jasmine, fill out over the coming months. Nice work!
