The project:
My old laundry was a mess. It's in a container house and had bare metal walls on 2 sides and a makeshift ceiling with a washer, dryer and cupboard. I used shiplap lining boards, villaboard to line 3 walls, a timber panel for shelving with metal curved brackets., a new pantry cupboard, painted the shiplap in a teal colour. I sanded the original container floor to give it more character. All materials were purchased from bunnings except the decor items on the wall and baskets. I did the whole project by myself. Now its functional and I love it.

- Step 1:
This was a photo of what it first looked like. Had to empty the room but work around the chest freezer and line the metal walls with sarking and insulation and do the same with the ceiling. Used flexible adhesive to glue studs to the metal wall as the basis for the timber frame and added in noggins with the nail gun. Then used gyprock glue and screws to fasten the villaboard sheets to each side wall.
- Step 2:
The internal back wall needed lining with villaboard , then covered the ceiling insulation with mdf sheeting for the ceiling and painted it. I painted the shiplap, pre-cut to length then used the brad gun to fasten them to the feature wall, covering the raw edges with a pine timber (primed) length to give a finished look and to hold the back of the large shelf with. Then added villaboard to the side walls.
- Step 3:
Finished off by fastening pine lengths around the wall to hold up the heavy timber shelf panel (benchtop re-purposed), cut the benchtop to size and installed. Added skirting and timber lengths for cornice. Put new pantry together and installed into the corner. Had an electrician install PowerPoint's. Installed small shelf on back wall from offcut of benchtop. Sanded floor. (Sorry, didn't take more photos). Decorated the room with various items I'd collected over time.
