Laundry makeover using Kaboodle cabinetry

The project:

Gut old laundry, remove asbestos, retile floor, install Kaboodle cabinetry and benchtop, paint and tile walls.

- Materials:

Kaboodle kitchen, tiles, insulation, timber, lighting fixtures

- Tools:

Numerous! Spirit level, impact drill, hammer, Nail gun, screwdrivers, wood clamps, jigsaw, safety and protective wear.

- Step 1:

- Step 2:

had asbestos walls removed by certified removalist. Boarded up old window frame and added new timbers, installed insulation.

- Step 3:

Installed gyprock and cornicing, ran wiring, Had floor tiled in laundry and adjacent two rooms

- Step 4:

measured and planned new laundry and visited Bunnings Mile End to order. Picked up and returned home and started putting together cabinets.

- Step 5:

Fitted cabinets to each other and walls, installed plumbing components, measured and cut benchtop and fitted. Cut hole for sink and added tapware and plumbing. Finished trim work. Tiled back wall and grouted. Fitted LED lighting under cupboards.

This is a great laundry transformation. Starting with a full gut-out and having the asbestos professionally removed was the right way to approach it, and it sounds like a lot of important work went in behind the scenes with the framing, insulation, gyprock and cornicing before the new cabinetry went in.

The Kaboodle cabinetry, benchtop, tiled back wall and under-cabinet LED lighting make the space feel much more finished and practical. It’s always satisfying seeing a laundry go from a dated utility space to something clean, organised and much easier to use day to day.
