The project:
I made this to hold and display our family service medals. They include my grandfather's medals, my father's and his 2 brothers' medals, and my medals.
- Materials:
The box was made from 2nd-hand timber, 70 mm x 50 mm cut down and glued together
- Tools:
Bench saw, planner, and sander.
- Step 1:
- Cut the timber to 65mm x 17mm and planed it.
- Glued it together to make the box components.
- Sanded it flat and cut it to the sizes needed.
- Joined it together for the box itself and the drawers.
- Resanded all components and stained them.
- Clear lacquer all pieces.
- Installed the drawers and top.
- Lined it with blue pinboard.
- Completed the project.
