The project:
The kids bikes were taking over my entire carport. We had an awkward triangular corner of the yard that I hoped could make for a cute little bike shed. If you have ever tried to look for a triangular shed you will know they only come custom built. A few trips to Bunnings and some recycling of the old rectangular shed that didn't fit anywhere, and I had walls and a roof. Doors were recycled from the online marketplace, still a little bit of touching up to go, but this sweet little shed is just a cosy little home for all of our bikes and maybe one day when the bike are long gone, a little art studio for me!

- Step 1:
Floor base using level pavers, builders edge footings and treated pine timbers.
- Step 2:
Structaply for the flooring would give it some damp proofing. Using the circular saw I cut it to fit the awkward triangle floor.
- Step 3:
Then the walls, these were a little tricky with the height and floor being angled getting the roof beams at the right angle took some trial and error.
- Step 4:
The roofing was next, as I was using the wall from our old shed that too needed to be triangular cut and screws down with roofing screws. Rain was coming so getting it all as sheltered as I could was important.
- Step 5:
Cladding and doors were next which required some fence dismantling. As we are very tight on a budget the eaves both A) fit in the car and B) were light enough for me to put up on my own and most importantly C) fit in the budget.
I had an idea for the skinny strip near the gate that wouldn't work for the cladding. I used a strip of suntuf sunlite roofing so that the kids would have some light in the shed to see what they were doing. This along with the glass recycled doors made it look more homely than the old shed.
- Step 6:
A bit of Dulux pain to match the hose and my vision was coming together. There is still a bit to go, but as far as bike storage goes, I'm pretty happy with my DIY shed.
