The project:
My old kitchen took up a lot of room, had a wall and was ugly! I wanted an open plan look with a small and functional kitchen. I sat with a Kitchen expert ( highly recommended) at Bunnings and planned a Kaboodle from there.
- Materials:
I used Bunnings bench-top and paint finish, cupboards in ‘molasses’ with a matt finish ( love it), matching paint, acrylic flashback, all appliances except for the little fridge are from Bunnings.
- Tools:
I had a local builder pull the old kitchen and wall out, replace the chipboard flooring with matching floorboards. He also installed the Bunnings kitchen for me. This was very reasonable and a good decision for me. He was very impressed with the drawers which had already been put together, unlike some from other suppliers. This saved hours! I painted the back wall and door behind the kitchen with paint mixed at Bunnings to match the ‘molasses’ cupboard colour. We made a breadboard from the hole cut for the sink and added little feet I bought from Bunnings.
- Step 1:
Took out old kitchen, wall and floor
- Step 2:
Added new floorboards and fixed walls.
- Step 3:
Paint and prep kitchen wall.
- Step 4:
Start putting it all together!
- Step 5:
Nearly done! I bought a 2nd kitchen bench top and sliced it lengthways to make to higher shelf- a great decision.
I also have a pull out pantry, bins under sink. I added a 2nd pull out shelf in the cupboard next to the pantry for my juicer and blender with a PowerPoint added inside that cupboard. This saves so much space.
- Step 6:
Finished! I put Nanoleaf Canvas lighting tiles from Bunnings under the top shelf for different lighting effects .
Love my kitchen so much!
- Step 7:
It was important to draw it up first using the Bunnings guidelines in their kitchen planning book. I used a free app to make a 3D render. It’s almost identical!
