The project:
A coat of paint, new doorknobs, some peel-and-stick wallpaper and a whole lot of elbow grease turned this run-down welsh dresser into a beautiful display piece!
- Materials:
Timbermate Wood Filler
Varnish Stripper
British Paints 4 in 1 Primer
Taubman's Easy Coat All Walls Paint (interior, low sheen) - Colour: Spruce Grove
Matte Brass Knobs
Peel-and-stick wallpaper
- Tools:
Orbital sander
Sand paper
Plastic scraper
Screwdrivers

- Step 1:
First I removed all the doors and drawers, and took off all the handles.
- Step 2:
I tried to remove the varnish, which proved to be quite challenging. The orbital sander didn't really shift it, and using varnish stripper was much messier than I was anticipating! So after removing some of the varnish I decided to just get a good primer instead.
- Step 3:
I used wood filler to fill in some chips and holes in the wood.
- Step 4:
I taped up the glass in the doors, and then gave everything a coat of primer.
- Step 5:
Then I did two coats of paint, using brushes for the corners and fiddly areas, and foam rollers for everything else.
- Step 6:
I put new brass knobs on the doors and drawers, and then put all the doors back on.
- Step 7:
Last step was to put peel-and-stick wall paper on the back panel and then fill the dresser with books!
