- Step 1:
First things first, you've got to buy a house in order to have your own say and get to work with the renos! My 1905 old workers cottage was the perfect place to start!
- Step 2:
The first step was decluttering the old furniture and seeing what space we had to work with. We soon realised the walls were very yellow… and something had to be done about it!
- Step 3:
Now we had an empty space to work with, it was obvious this beautiful room filled with character just needed to be stripped back in order to make the features (such as the fire place and skirting boards) stand out!
- Step 4:
I rang up my mate and asked if she wanted to come and start ripping wallpaper off! We soon realised that there were in fact 2-3 layers of wallpaper which wasn't a job for blood, sweat and tears… this could be a lot easier with a steamer, so off to trusty ol' Bunnings we went!
- Step 5:
We finally got all the wallpaper off and were ready to start patching up our canvas with some wall filler. This wouldn't have been possible without the expertise from the lady at Bunnings who helped us choose the right product for our lard and plaster.
- Step 6:
Next was the fun part! All the prep work had been done.

- ready to paint the canvas!
It was the most exciting part as I could finally see my vision come to life!

I was so happy with how the first bedroom turned out, I used exactly the same process for Bedroom #2!
