How to replace old existing brackets of window?

Hi,

When I moved into my house, in my living room windows there were brackets drilled into them to prevent opening (see photos attached). They don't look aesthetically pleasing to the ear, and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on alternative options I could replace these with?

Ideally something more subtle would be nice.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your window bracket.

It appears you have an awning window. I suggest using a https://www.bunnings.com.au/whitco-white-cyl4-mini-bolt-lock_p4110359 . It serves as both stopper and lock so if you are home but only wish to secure the window you can leave it unlocked, but to prevent it from opening even from the inside you have the option to lock it.
