The project:
We transformed our tired, outdated ensuite into a bright, timeless and calming space. Wanting to create a space we'd love for years to come, we took on almost every part of the renovation ourselves, learning new skills and carefully planning every detail. From demolition and wall panelling to tiling and painting, this project reflects our passion for DIY. We wanted to achieve interest through textures, while keeping the colour palette neutral and timeless. The result is a functional bathroom that’s beautiful to look at and is our proudest DIY achievement to date.

- Step 1:
Planned and designed the renovation – Measured the room, finalised the layout, selected fixtures, tiles, colours and finishes, and created a detailed renovation plan and budget.
- Step 2:
Demolished the existing ensuite – Removed the old shower, vanity, toilet, wall tiles, floor tiles and fittings, preparing the room for a complete rebuild.
- Step 3:
Completed the structural preparation – Installed new wall linings, completed framing and installation of the vanity, prepared the floor and walls, and ensured everything was square and ready for waterproofing and finishes.
- Step 4:
Laid the floor and wall tiles – Installed terrazzo-look floor tiles and white feature wall tiles, carefully cutting and aligning them for a professional finish before grouting and sealing.
- Step 5:
Installed fixtures and fittings – Fitted the sinks, toilet, shower screen, tapware, skylight, exhaust fan, lighting and accessories, completing the functional elements of the room.
- Step 6:
Added the finishing details – Installed trim, silicone, hardware and styling elements, ensuring every detail was neat and cohesive.
